To get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, take a quick drive from Lucena City to the original Palaisdaan Restaurant. Its about 16km and 3 hour drive, but well worth it.
Palaisdaan, meaning fishpond, is exactly what you get. Dine on the floating nipa huts. Watch the coy fish in the pond beneath you, and listen to the band as they walk around and serenade each table in hopes of a tip.
The tilapia is fresh from the ponds just on the outside of the restaurant. The scenery of the surrounding rice fields really makes you feel as though time doesn’t matter and you could relax all day, floating in your hut.
I was fortunate to have met some of my relatives at the restaurant and they did most of the ordering. On the down side.. I didn’t really get a good look at the menu. Suffice to say, everything is fresh and it all tasted quite delicious.
