Family trip to Dawal Beach Resort in Candelaria, Zambales – I was fortunate to have my parents come and visit me while living here in the Philippines. It was my Dad’s first time to the country and was great to see him experience the new culture.
We were staying in Pampanga near our relatives in Floridablanca when it was brought to our attention that a couple of my Mom’s nieces were going to school in Candelaria, Zambales. Days later we hit the road.
Candelaria is a nice little town on the Zambales coast, right on the South China Sea. It located on the west coast of Central Luzon.
During our stay, we stayed at the Dawal Beach Resort. Since it was July and right in the middle of the rainy season, we had the whole resort to ourselves. I didn’t see any other travellers. That didn’t bother me one bit since the weather was great and the beach was all ours.
You have the choice of standard rooms, poolside rooms, penthouse, dormatories and cottages. They gave us really good off-season rates, so we upgraded to a 2-bedroom penthouse with an ocean view. It had a great look onto the South China Sea and Potipot Island (shown in the picture above) where we spent our second day snorkeling and relaxing.
If you would like to do a trip to Potipot Island, just off shore, the hotel will help transport you by banka. I think it was about 50 pesos round trip per person.
The restaurant was pretty decent considering we were the only ones there. The bar stayed open late so we were able to get a “couple” San Miguel Lights in before bed.
All in all I really enjoyed my stay at Dawal. I recommend it for anyone visiting Candelaria, Zambales.
